Nearly 70 archaeological sites on the property reflect more than 8,000 years of human occupation. Included are a visitor center, exhibit barn, gift shop, hiking trails, a re-created Indian Village and canoe/kayak launch. Also on the grounds is the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory. Call about scheduling a tour of the facility.

Lower Marlboro Wharf

Lower Marlboro is one of 20 steamboat landings/wharves located in Calvert County. Approximately 36 miles from where the Patuxent meets the Chesapeake Bay, the wharf was once an important mode of transportation for local residents, farms and businesses. Today, the public can fish from the pier and enjoy the view of the Patuxent River. No fees. Limited parking, no facilities and no overnight parking. Wharf open dawn to dusk.

Maryland Kayak Outfitters offer a full day of fun on beautiful St. Leonard Creek. All kayak equipment is supplied including PFD, fish finder, handheld marine radio and safety equipment. Rent a pedal drive kayak and bring your own gear, or rent the kayak and a rod and reel. (kayaks cannot be taken to other bodies of water). Optional add-on fishing guide service includes tackle, guided photography excursions and scenic tours in kayaks.
