Surrendering a Pet

Please note that the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter is an open admission organization that must accept all animals from Calvert County no matter their species, breed, health, temperament, etc. As a result, some animals may not be deemed as adoptable or candidate to placed with one of our rescue partners based on temperament and/or if considered unhealthy/untreatable.

Here at the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter, we understand that making the decision to surrender a pet is not easy. When surrendering an animal, it is beneficial to the pet that you provide the shelter with as much information about them as you can. This can include, but is not limited to, the animals:

  • Allergies
  • Likes and dislikes
  • Medical conditions
  • Temperament

Please be prepared upon arrival to spend at least 10 to 15 minutes at the shelter with a staff member so we can learn about your pet.
