It is unlawful for any person to engage in the business or to act in the capacity of a building contractor within the County without first being registered and have a license issued by Calvert County.
"Any person who shall violate a provision of this code or shall fail to comply with any of the requirements thereof or who shall erect, construct, alter or repair a building or structure in violation of an approved plan or directive of the Building Official, or of a permit or certificate issued under the provisions of this code shall be guilty of a civil violation and fined as set forth in Section 113.4.5."
Property Owner as Builder
Property owners may construct their own dwelling on their own property without a license (with proper permits).
State of Maryland Home Builder Requirements
As of January 1, 2001, the builder must also be licensed and registered as a Home Builder in the State of Maryland. A license number will be required before any permit application will be accepted.
