Gail L. Hatfield

Gail Hatfield, director, holds a B.A. degree in Business Management from University of Maryland University College. Hatfield is an experienced elections administrator with over 36 years’ experience in election management serving the Calvert County Election Board. She oversees the Election Board and is devoted to the development and implementation of policies. Her focus is to plan, organize and direct administrative actions needed to implement county, state and federal elections, while managing the budget and expenditures. She has 20 years of experience and success with computerized voting equipment such as voting machines, electronic poll books, centralized voter registration databases and mail in ballot programs. Hatfield also assists the Chesapeake and North Beach Town Halls with their local elections. Hatfield was inducted into the National Leadership and Society for Success in 2009. She has maintained The Election Center certified elections/registration administrator since 2002 and is also a Notary Public in the state of Maryland. Hatfield is very active with committees in her elections profession and has served two terms as president of the Maryland Association of Election Officials (MAEO). Over the years, she has served as chairperson for MAEO Continuing Education, Legislative and Educational Grant Committees. She is also a member of the International Association of Government Officials. In 2008, Hatfield received the “Award of Excellence” from The League of Women Voters as well as the “Election Official of the Year” from MAEO. Under her leadership, Election Board staff received the Calvert County Team Excellence Award in 2003, 2005 and again in 2016.
