Canaan Farms offers horseback riding lessons and trail riding for our students. Lessons are available with our instructors for beginners on up to advanced riders. The Canaan Farms facility has a unique setting with a large horse barn, 2 outdoor arenas, a round pen, and turn-out paddocks. Open by appointment only. In order to promote their goal of connecting people to the land the American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT) began a small CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm producing vegetables for shareholders from May through October. Produce grown covers the full spectrum from arugula to zucchini and includes many heritage types from around the world as well as traditional main crop garden varieties. Rolling Acres Farm has been in the family since the 1940s. Over the years, it has evolved from raising livestock, tobacco and grain, but one constant has always remained — it has always been a farm for the family. Now, that tradition is being shared with others.
In the fall of 2023, the farm celebrated its grand opening, featuring Tettimers’ Produce Stand, a corn maze for both children and adults, a Jumbo Jumping Pillow, a pumpkin patch, a petting zoo with Highland calves Poppy and Sniper, and much more. The farm has been passed down through three generations of the Jones family from Clyde Senior and Pearl, to Clyde Junior (Baby Boy) and Bertha, to Dale and Debbie. The farm has seen many changes throughout the years and is continually evolving to stay sustainable in this ever changing world. Our goal is to produce a quality product at a reasonable cost, while raising livestock in a natural way. All meats offered are USDA processed and inspected and are sold by the pound.
