In 1986, Calvert County received a generous gift of land from the estate of Bennett O. Hughes. As a condition of the gift, the county agreed that 196-acre property would be maintained as a tree farm to demonstrate sustainable forest management.

Numerous trails meander through the forests, taking hikers through various successional stages of forest growth, meadows, and around a bucolic fishing pond.

Hunting

Special Hunt Days Planned

In partnership with the Chesapeake Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, we are offer special hunt days aimed at introducing non-traditional audiences to hunting in a safe and controlled environment.
