Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maryland (BGCSM) is a youth development organization that opened in 1999 as the Calvert County Boys & Girls Club. Their mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need support the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. The organization serves youth in Southern Maryland, providing after-school programs and summer camp.

Hours:

  • Daily after-school programs: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. 
  • Summer camp: 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

East-John Youth Center provides transportation and access to the in-school and after-school Adolescent Clubhouse program, which offers substance use prevention, mental health awareness education, peer-supported programming, and family peer supports. Programming includes Botvin LifeSkills Training; Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT); the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA); and Developmental Assets. 


Pathways Adolescent Clubhouse

The Pathways Adolescent Clubhouse provides GED and college prep, vocational and skill building, job readiness and coaching, evidence-based life skills, educational tutoring and computer lab, family engagement activities, parenting workshops, student advocacy, case management and referrals. The program's goal is to help adolescents build strong community supports, improve mental health and wellness, learn effective tools to address substance use and prevention. 

The program operates Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Call for more information.
